Art is not what you see.....

"Art is not what you see,

but what you make others see"

                                                                                                      -Edgar Degas

Kindergarten

Kindergarten kiddos created caterpillars! They painted a stick with leaves on it and then they traced 6 circles onto colored squares. After cutting the circles out and gluing them onto their stick, they decorated them by adding eyes and line patterns! We then talked about the color wheel and revisited the types of line.  (Kindergarten is currently working with clay and creating bird art! :)

First Grade

First graders have finished designing their robots and they have traced their robot onto a piece of foam. Then, they rolled ink onto their robots and printed them onto 2 pieces of colored paper. We are finally finishing up our printmaking after two weeks of printing! (First graders are currently working on self portraits and line art while their classmates print.)

Second Grade

My second graders have finished up their warm and cool color self portraits. Every class that we have worked on them, we have revisited the difference between the two types by discussing the differences and by looking at the color wheel. I have attached a link for a game involving warm and cool colors that will help continue the learning at home! (Second grade is currently working with Aluminum Tooling.)

Third Grade

After learning about contour lines and the different types, third graders created their own. They were given 3 squares of white paper and on them they were to draw one person, one animal and one of their choice. After drawing the 3, they were allowed to do more of their choice. (We are currently working on color emphasis and we will be working with clay next.)

Fourth Grade

Fourth grade learned about the different geometric forms and the different ways to draw them both solid and hollow. Next, we discussed the term still life, talked about different things that could be considered a still life and then created our own using foam geometric forms. Then, fourth graders learned about value, created a value scale and then applied the values to their still life. (By popular demand, we are currently making out names in graffiti.)

The art show is around the corner!! We will be doing more three-dimensional things soon!!
