Time to Catch Up!!
Or as my students refer to it...Ketchup Time :)
Kindergarten
My kindergarten kiddos have been working very hard! We finished up our self-portraits and moved onto the color wheel! In this project we began by creating a circle and dividing it into parts. Next, we reviewed the colors of the rainbow and applied them to our sectioned circle by coloring with markers. Students then turned their circle into a turtle...some were ninja turtles! To complete this work of art, kindergarten kiddos added types of line to create various types of water (zig zag was extreme waves, straight lines were calm water and so on!) We are currently working on Animal drawings and Cave Art!
First Grade
First grade student finally finished their Landscape, Cityscape & Seascape art. We then quickly moved onto chalk lions. We began by drawing a rectangle and then added additional shapes to create a lion. To color these, I decided to be brave and have them use chalk! It was extremely exciting to see how inspired they were while blending the chalk colors together to create the lions mane! They turned out pretty wonderful! Next they will be working on a still-life painting!
Second Grade
Second grade students finished their bubbles and have been working on Folded Fish. We began folding our large white paper into 4 equal parts. We then unfolded one part and drew a simple fish including things such as an eye, scales, fins, gills, etc. Next, we opened the paper up to create the mouth and the rest of the body. This was really fun for the kiddos because we began with an innocent fish swimming around and ended up with a fish with sharp crazy teeth!! Some students made their teeth silly instead of making their fish appear scary! We then colored them with crayons or colored pencils. We are now working on image transfer and aluminum tooling!
Third Grade
While still attempting to finish our 1point perspective drawings and our zentangle landscapes, students have also been learning about architecture. After discussing architecture in terms of what it is, who creates it and viewing examples, we decided to make it fun! Third grade students became "Treehouse Masters!" After thinking about interiors and exteriors and number of rooms, students also brainstormed ways to enter and exit their treehouses and ways to get from treehouse to treehouse such as rope bridges and zip lines! Some of these were very creative!! Next, students will be working on animal silhouettes and animal textures!
Fourth Grade
These students have finished their Van Gogh inspired chairs and have been working on creating crazy contour line owls! After a discussion about different types of contour line drawing such as blind contour line drawings and continuous line drawings, students drew a crazy owl using a continuous line. We then colored in each space with crazy bright colored markers! We are currently working on backgrounds for these and lego portraits!
Clay Photos to come!! :)
Lane is ONE!! Can you believe it?!
